  • Owners Chris Andrews and Paul Gilmore, purchased Broadway Funeral Home from Glenda Milligan in 2019. Prior owners Glenda and Kerry McKinley founded Broadway Funeral Home in 1999, sadly Kerry passed away in 2015.
  • Chris and his wife Carolyn Andrews also own sister firm, Jones & Company Funeral Services in Tauranga (since 2014). Jones & Company have Funeral Chapels in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui, and a family lounge in the Methodist Church at Te Puke.
  • Chris and Paul are qualified funeral directors with long industry experience. Together with their experienced staff, they care for your deceased loved ones with dignity, kindness and professionalism. Your family are treated with warmth and friendliness and empathy.
  • We maintain close ties with our National Association (FDANZ), and are proud members of Locally Owned and Family Owned Funeral Directors in New Zealand (unlike many funeral homes who are owned by overseas corporations). We are committed to providing Matamata and Te Aroha Communities with professional, ethical and quality care.

Broadway’s role is to relieve you from as much of the pressure of organising a funeral as possible and to ensure your funeral choices are arranged sensitively and professionally.

Our service includes:

  • Meeting the family to ascertain their wishes

  • Transporting the deceased

  • Liaising with the doctor, hospital and coroner as necessary

  • Registering the death with the authorities

  • Organising newspaper notices

  • Preparing, embalming, dressing and casketing the deceased

  • Ensuring cultural and/or ethnic customs are observed

  • Arranging and attending the service

  • Providing service sheets

  • Organising other service requirements such as filming/livestreaming ceremony

  • Liaising with the florist, minister or celebrant, catering requirements etc

  • Organising the burial or cremation with council

Our Facilities

Broadway Funeral Home and Chapel, 10 Short Street, Matamata

Our multi faith Chapel has a seating capacity for 100 people with adequate parking and easy access for the less mobile.  The air conditioned Chapel is equipped for data projection and has an adjoining reception lounge for refreshments following the service.

The administration office and mortuary preparation room are all at this venue.

Broadway Funeral Te Aroha Office, 188 Whitaker Street, Te Aroha

An office only is at this venue.  We attend this centrally located office by appointment only.  Please phone us on 0800 862 273 to arrange for one of our staff to meet you there.
